Alfa Alfajores Bakery was founded in 2018 by Valery Ketenjian. Born and raised in Uruguay, one of her favorite childhood sweets was the alfajor cookie. She moved to San Diego, where her passion for baking led her to attend culinary school. During her studies, she got the chance to return to Uruguay, where she worked as the pastry chef at the restaurant of world renowned Argentinian chef Francis Mallmann. While there, her love for alfajores led her to seek out as many artisanal varieties of the cookie she could find. Inspired by what she found, she left Uruguay with the dream of sharing these unique confections with others. Soon, she was developing her own recipes and selling them in San Diego markets. Alfa Alfajores Bakery was born.
